It seems Spaniards are most varied in Europe. The North South divide in Spain is much higher so than in Italy but what about Catalunya? Its relatively in the north (compared to Andalusia) but still faces south.

I disagree that spaniards are more varied than italians, and that the north south divide is more important.

Probably equal if anything. in skin color maybe, But Spaniards have alot less people with a psuedo Levantine look than Italy (due to both Dinarization and curly hair both being more or less rare among Iberians) so you see alot less Jason Biggoids in Iberiia than you do in Greece and Italy. Altho Iberia does have its share of pseudo "what the fuck izzat"/"pseudo-Hispanics"

No I dont think so at all. Penelope Cruz is your Jason Biggoid and check out Rossy De Palma while your at it . The Irish probably have more curly hair than Italians or at the same rate...
Basque's have always been known for being the darkest people in Europe.
Also that Dinaric-Mediterranean look isnt at all Levantine by any means,so thats a moot point.
But the reality is your looking for differences that aren't there, and just insignificant.

I disagree that spaniards are more varied than italians, and that the north south divide is more important. The lightest and darkest people in Europe have been Spaniards. Why is that? I have seen very dark people from there and very light people. Spain is the most varied country in all of Europe! However Italians, especially Southern Italians are way more meditteranean in general I'm under the impression that Iberia is the most Mediterranean region in Europe with regards to phenotypes.

But the reality is your looking for differences that aren't there, and just insignificant. Differences that aren't there eh? you're contradicting coon. As I said before I don't mean to say that Spaniards are lighter in pigmentation, quite the contrary i concede that Italy has a much stronger Nordic, and Alpine element. What i am saying however is that Spain is more Western-Med than anything else and curly hair is simply the exception not the rule as are convex noses, both these traits are much more common in Italy. You appear to be very hostile towards this fact as if i was somehow buying into Abduls' little Saracenic-sicily fanatasies! I'm not in fact it is one of the lighter elements present in Italy(alpine) which creates the dinarization which is so ever present among Italians (and by extension Italian-Americans) Alot of times when people view Italians as dark, It isn't about pigmentation. Now you brought up Rossy DePalma, Shes a good example of a rare Iberian, I never said the type doesn't exist did I? No, I only said it was rare. I'm blood type AB+ most Spaniards are O, All Amerindians are O therefore by that logic most Hispanics(mestizos, before you say anything) are Type O, Am i an alien? no I'm just a rarity as i have a parent with B an Extreme rarity among Hispanics. I must admit however, that "rossy depalmoids" are much more present among "White-Hispanics"(especially Caribbeans) than among Iberians. Why this is so? I don't Know. but one i can name is Porn star Luscious Lopez.

It seems Spaniards are most varied in Europe. The North South divide in Spain is much higher so than in Italy Based on a Majorcan? No I dont think so at all. Penelope Cruz is your Jason Biggoid and check out Rossy De Palma while your at it . The Irish probably have more curly hair than Italians or at the same rate... That's not relevant because in that case curly hair is correlated with a Proto-Europoid phenotype which altogether doesn't look remotely Levantine. While Jason Biggs on the other hand is mistaken for Jewish, Penelope Cruz looks a little too much like a mousy infantalised Andalusian to pass for just any Levantine. Certainly not in skin color, apparently. And I've never seen anyone claim, with any scientific basis, that they're darker rather than lighter than the rest of Iberia. It seems, when finally confronted with exotic Italians, you either make up that their hair has been altered, or upgrade them to Egyptian royalty; when it should be obvious to you that, not through admixture, but mere proximity and also therefore an increased likelihood of partial origins, Italians should look slightly, just slightly, more eastern; and not necessarily more exotic.

Yigal! I contradict nothing. Your views are that of a typical RAS poster not of anthropology nor real understanding of it,certainly not genetics.** Alpines and Dinarics are noted amongst the Iberians..even the Basques. Forrester: << That's not relevant because in that case curly hair is correlated with a Proto-Europoid phenotype which altogether doesn't look remotely Levantine. >> What are you talking about?! And just what I'am supposed to accept? That when curly hair is found in Italy its either foreign influence/or of different origin from the type found in Ireland/British Isles, and that it somehow jumps from Italy over Iberia and into right into Ireland like magic? . You really make me laugh! Mediterranean's have straight to curly hair. Curly hair also varies in form as well, and its found in North Africa and the Middle East much more often than in Italy or Iberia is basically all. Is it a big deal? No! Is it because of genetic influence? No! I never made anything into a deal if you bothered to fully read my posts . But your only interesting in dogging me and trying to play semantics. What I wrote was simple: << Yesterday at 7:45pm, Tyrannos wrote: . The Irish probably have more curly hair than Italians or at the same rate... >> Italians have often thick but straight to wavy hair is all that I know . The Irish are reknown for their curly often coarser hair, which they are.The Irish "Jew-fro" is legendary in fact. Doesn't make one iota of a difference for me personally. Just the lot of BS thrown around concering Italy surely does . Both my brother and I both had curly hair when as toddlers ,but it became straight - wavy as adults. Yeah--curly hair is correlated to the Proto-Europoid,yeah no kidding! Thats because the Proto-Europoid type was a early Mediterranean type, thats a FACT. And the modern Mediterranean's have straight to curly hair. I have seen no study to show Italians have more curly than Iberians, nor look 'slightly more Eastern' as you say , and as being thrown around here and on other boards. And you talk about scientific??? Please! Now, the Proto-Europoid type was a early Mediterranean type nothing more. Which Hooton,Angel and Sergi and Genetic's and modern archeology & anthropology dictates. When you find Neanderthal genes or genes from planet Thule you let me know... Forrester: << While Jason Biggs on the other hand is mistaken for Jewish, Penelope Cruz looks a little too much like a mousy infantalised Andalusian to pass for just any Levantine.>> Oh I see now, thats real logic there you use... Cruz, to me can pass for Lebanese or "Lavantine" based on the same reasoning your using on Jason Biggs. Morever that means nothing, cause Europeans took over and held the Near East for much longer than they they ever did us(meaning Europe). BIG DIFFERENCE . So if anyting its the opposite, they look like us. Another fact is, that's its actually the Iberians which a whole race of jews take after, called Sephardic. So Iberians would look 'eastern' or 'Levantine' too it thats the way your playing it.. Moreover, Italians arent even remotely genetically Eastern or such,Southern Italians as per example always group either as Central or Western European and very close to the Basque's. The reality is perceptions are subjective and looks can be often deceiving. *Bigg's looks if anything like a local Cappadocian(long faced ) Mediterranean which was simply an Atlanto-Mediterranean variant. Its type that was found in both Iberia and Southern Italy/Sicily in the Bronze Age along with Greece too. Doesn't mean is due to foreign influence at all ,but micro-evolution. It formed out've the Mediterranean type which these people all belonged to and lived in a similar environment..See the same thing which created the so-called Alpine,Dinaric & Armenoid sub-types ,which also come from,yep-- the Mediterranean . You and Yigal's playing around does not impress me one bit.

Ugh. No. The point is curly hair in Ireland rarely makes anyone look Levantine combined with other typically Mediterranean traits. Rather than being associated with the Atlantids-Mediterranids, it's the lighter Proto-Europoids who have the curly hair. Italy on the other hand has more general Mediterranean traits.
Did I say it was? The point is it's a big deal to you, hence your current excited response, because you don't want Italians besmirched.
Point being? You think Sean Finnerty can pass as a Jew? Are you nuts?
We've already been through this. The Races of Europe. Your response was something along the lines of-- "Um, yeah, well, I don't believe it."
What does this this have to do with large-bodied, Irishman passing for Jews?
Penelope Cruz is most often compared to a mouse. Biggs, a jew.
No one's talking about Sephardics. Your comment doesn't seem to have a point, as they're less Levantine than Ashkenazim.
Southern Italians are rather Greek. You already know this.
That's why we're talking about factual observations, like nasal and hair form.
On what planet does "Cappadocian" mean anything other than Turkish looking? The whole point is that type is supposed to have expanded from the eastern Mediterranean.

Sorry, Crimson. I have to agree with Forrester and Yigal. It's silly to try and deny that many Italians do not have Levantine looks, considering the Mediterraneans in the Italian Peninsula are usually East Mediterraneans.

He seems to take it to heart, as if I was somehow claiming all Italians to be Bedouins or Bantus. It's a fact that Italians have a much higher incidence of Dinaroids,Alpinoids,on top of a mostly EAST Mediterranean base. Where as Spaniards are a little more uniform being mostly of WESTERN Mediterranean and Coarser Berid strains, Thus lacking Nasal convexity and Brachycephaly so prominent in Italians (Roman noses anybody? Roman busts?) It is just a fact.
Sources Cited? Try Coons' Races of Europe Chapter XII, section VII(Italy) and Chapter XI, section VX (Iberian Peninsula) and as for his claim that my comments are unfounded and based on nothing I think he underestimates my aptitude for Anthropology based on my somewhat sporadical Inane ramblings Mayne. As if your claims are founded cite your sources? I forget you don't need sources since every one is Mediterranid to you.
