Pure meditteranean would look like someone from Extreme Southern Spain or extreme Southern Portugal almost touching the Strait of Gibraltar for West Meds and someone from Turkey for East Meds There is no "pure" look. Its, "what do these people have that features in racial traits would place them."

Forgive my arrogance, but I've always thought of myself as a pure pan-Mediterranean type. And by "Mediterranean," I mean all three continents in the region: Europe, North Africa and the Levant. I could easily fit into any city from Faro, Portugal to Berber North Africa to Hamitic Egypt to Levantine Lebanon. Actor Tony Shaloub [his hair-texture notwithstanding] would also be a pan-Mediterranean type that harked back to the "ancient substratum" before either Aryan or Semite showed up.

Btw, you resemble a lot one cousin of mine, who is older than me (born in 1966; is it your birthyear!?) and whom I cherich the most in my close familly.

Do you think you could easily pass as Near Eastern, Berter?

Do you think you could easily pass as Near Eastern, Berter? Sure!. F.e, I have been taken for a lebanese by compatriotes (Moroccans). I believe that I can infiltrate practically all mediterraneran groups with more or less difficulties, of course.

Linguistic terms like "Aryan" and "Semitic" are meaningless in this context. What evidence do you have that (a) the Natufians were drastically different from the current inhabitants of the Levant, and that (b) Tony Shalhoub is their pure descendant? Likely none. Indeed, all available evidence suggests that the people of modern-day Lebanon are a mixture of aboriginal and Arabian peoples.
Furthermore, while I do agree that there is a general Mediterranean look, Iberian peoples are of Paleolithic European origin. Taking that into consideration, it seems unlikely that you and Tony Shalhoub share anything other than a basic brunette pigmentation.

Well it seems that Iberians (specially Southern ones) aren't as Paleolithic as once though..the same with Levatines being Neolithic. So yes, droop's looks might be related to the area..lol
Anyway, there aren't pure meds.

They're among the most Paleolithic populations in Europe. Of course, all Europeans have at least a little Middle Eastern ancestry. But Iberians cluster with other Western Europeans, whereas Lebanese Arabs cluster with other Near Easterners.
You're right about Levantine Arabs not being completely representative of Neolithic peoples. The Levantine gene pool is mostly aboriginal, but does have a significant Arab component.

Do they take the actual Bedouins in Syria (for example) into consideration when they make these tests? Probably impossible to know.
But it's kind of annoying that they don't seem to break the tests down further than simply Christian and Muslim (in the case of Lebanon) like when they analyse Jewish genetics, the area is a lot more complex than that, and there would of course be regions within each country that are very mixed, some that aren't, and so on.
The Arab admixture would have different sources as well, being Ghassanid in the Christians, and Islamic invader in the Muslims.

I'd have to look over the studies I have. They're all on my other computer, which is broken at the moment.
I do know that they separate Beoduins from other Arabs in studies on Jewish genetics.
